In this area, the private residences nestle around
in an inner court. Out of all the marvelous wooden houses built back in the 14th
century, only two have survived so far. One of these lies down the road near
the river IJ, popularly known as the Oude Kerk, or the Old Church. This

and it is definitely a shame to come back from Amsterdam without paying this
building a visit. From here you can head to the Eastern Docklands. The
Docklands trace back to the nineteenth century and represent the ancestral
trade centre. Though these are now serving as residential apartment, there are

take a ferry to have a look around at the calm water.
