Acropolis of Athens
Acropolis is a legendary, ancient citadel located in the mountains above the city of Athens Attractions. It is one of the most phenomenal landmarks of the world, alongside the places such as Great Wall of China and the pyramids of Giza. As of today, Acropolis contains the remains of a few ancient buildings which illustrate the magnificent architectural talents of the ancient Greeks. The most significant buildings in the Acropolis are the Propylaia the Parthenon, the temple of Athena Nike and the Erechteion.

Ancient Agora
Agora had been the political, social and commercial capital of Athens during the ancient time. It's the best live example of a typical Greek agora. Located at the northwest of Acropolis, it is bound by the hill of the Areopagus and the hill Kolonus Agraios, in south and west. It is believed that the agora has been established as early as 6th century BC. Agora had been the center of the public life, entertainment and trade during the time of Plato and Socrates. The temple of the Olympian Zeus had been the largest temple in Greece Destinations, which has taken almost 700 years to complete. The constructions had begun by the tyrant Peisistratos in the 6th century BC, during the Archaic era, and completed during the Roman era, in the 2nd century AD. The temple was originally built as a Doric Order temple, which was altered by the architect Cossutius in 175 BC to include 3 rows at the front of the temple, each consisting of 8 massive columns, and two rows of 21 columns each. Each column is 17.25m high. There had been two statues inside the temple, both of which are not present today. The statues belonged to Zeus and the Emperor Hadrian.

Plaka district is basically a popular village, located just under the Acropolis. It's a city ideal for shopping, dining and to get a glimpse of what the day-to-day life of a typical Athenian looks and feels like. The village features narrow labyrinthine streets made of stone, alongside which stands residents of the villagers, which are made of stone and brick, elaborating the Cycladic architecture. There's also a range of restaurants, shops, pubs & bars where one could sit and enjoy an authentic Athens meal while feeling the traditional Greek culture. Plaka district is quite private, unique and calm. One could also visit the Jewish Museum and the Folk-Art Museum, while they are in Plaka.

Erechtheum is an old Greek temple made of Pentelic marbles. Located in Acropolis, Erechtheum is considered one of the architectural masterpieces of Greece Destinations. The Erechtheum is considered to be a sanctuary dedicated to Athena Polias, Poseidon and Erechtheus. The shrine dedicated to Athena can still be visited today. The most defining feature of Erechtheum is the 6 figures of draped females who support the entablature.
